At Blue Haven Community Centre
The Blue Haven Community Centre in association with Working Nation Co-Operative Limited has Computer, Internet and Photography training available. The training courses are designed to allow members of the community to receive inexpensive but quality training. All courses will give resources to allow ongoing self-directed training. This will allow free continual learning after the course is completed. The small and personable class sizes allow excellent one on one training and the atmosphere is light and friendly with no pressure.
All subjects are two stage courses, each stage is for three sessions, with one morning session per week. Each session lasts three hours with a coffee break in the middle. Most sessions are during weekday mornings. Some future sessions may be held in afternoons, evenings or Saturdays depending on demand.
Computers, Internet and Email for Beginners . Learn how to use the computer, surf the net, start your own email account then send and receive emails. Learn about computer maintenance and security. You will become able to access online information and services, do online shopping and banking and much more.
Computers, Internet and Email for Beginners also includes Voice over the Internet training, using the free to download Skype application.This technology can drastically reduce your phone bill and also through the web cam facility there is a kind of video conferencing available. Great for business people or simply those who want to keep in touch with distant family and friends.
Digital Photo Editing / Photo Enhancement is another course available.Using free to download programs learn how to edit your photos, print them at home, email them to friends and family and even post your pictures on the Internet. Editing and Photo Enhancement includes altering colour brightness and contrast, photo restoration and removing blemishes, placing elements from one photo onto another.
A course in Microsoft Word is also available now. You will learn how to use toolbars to enhance your documents appearance in creative ways by inserting pictures, borders and art borders. Microsoft Word is much more than word processing software and you will be taught hot to use it's many features by a very experienced teacher in this field.
Portrait and Wedding Photography is available now as well. Learn from a local professional with over 20 years in the business. A leading photographer from Studio 007 http://www.studio007.com.au/ will teach you studio setup, lighting, camera position, how to capture the feeling and much more.
We also have specialist classes for those seeking employment or for the training of staff to use business related software. These business related subjects include file management, office programs for word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

In addition to these courses there is a free Broadband Internet cafe at the Blue Haven Community Centre available for previous students who may not be connected to the Internet yet or only have a slow dial up connection. One on one training will be provided at the Internet cafe, where assistance is sort.
